After a fantastic quiet overnight, with no wind, truck noise or rain we are up relatively late and having not needed to unhook the van and car. We can and do make a sharp easy exit from this great little town.
Today’s drive is a tough one as the weather is bang on the forecast of rain which has really closed in and makes the drive a challenge in places.
Today’s aim is to get to the town of Swan Hill in Victoria which is about 250k’s from Murrayville and takes us about three and a half hours with a lunch stop in the tiny town of Ouyen. Our intention was to feed ourselves and having done so fed some goats who we found in a paddock which was pretty bare. We didn’t have much but they wolfed down a few slices of bread. Amazingly Kaz found time to shop and ended up buying a dress.
Job done, back on the road we pass some areas where the recent fires had left their mark on some of the vines and trees, not a pretty sight but hopefully today’s rain may help the ground recover.
Shortly after we arrive at the big4 caravan park in Swan Hill and the rain has followed us with the site suffering a bit of a drenching. We get in to the office and are given a choice of different sites to choose from with all of them backing on to the magnificent mighty Murray River.
The park has great facilities including a heated outdoor pool.
Due to the upcoming weekend being a labour day weekend, this camp is sold out. This means we are only here for a couple of days before we have to move on.
Having settled in we jump on to Google to find the best place to eat and it looks like the pick for today is the Swan Hill Club.
This turns out to be a great choice as the food we had was so good. Kaz had a Parmigiana with chip’s and salad and I scoffed the stuffed chicken with roast spuds and veg.
As usual we are watching the clock as we don’t want to miss our usual tune in of Survivor Australia. We leave in good time and after this episode it’s lights out.
