Last day in the NT today as we head through quarantine and in to Western Australia heading for Lake Argyle. Packed up and on the road by 8am we reach Timber Creek within the hour, fuel up and get some breakfast going. The drive is uneventful and we arrive at the WA border and are met by the quarantine officer who seems very happy to see us and welcomes us to WA before getting back to his real job and in Ned Kelly style requests all our fruit and veg be given up. We loose a potato, mushrooms and a red onion to Ned before he jokes that our cider has apples and the champagne has grapes and should be confiscated. Obviously a Ned border favourite that joke. He also informs us that we have stepped back in time and we gain one and a half hours. As Lake Argyle is a must do, we call ahead to book a spot and are told no need as it’s not that busy. We motor on down the Victoria highway and turn off in to Lake Argyle road which is almost a single track with just enough room if everybody moves a little left. After 40 km we arrive and there is a bloody queue to get in. We luck out and are taken to a cracking huge spot next to the bar, infinity pool, reception, helicopter pad and pick up area for tours etc. the spot also has the great bonus of having two large trees which provides us terrific shade and the further bonus of a huge frangipani tree flowering like crazy and adding a nice perfume tothe air. We book in for three days and may extend this as this place is pretty amazing.
